Kidz4Christ is performing their Christmas play “Christmas at Lone Star Gulch” at BLBC this Friday – Sunday, December 18-20. Join us Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 4pm or Sunday at 10am and enjoy the kids performing this great musical that is sure to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.

Thanksgiving Potluck

Join us for our annual Thanksgiving potluck after the church service on Sunday, November 22nd. It is always a great time of eating good food, being with friends and family, and sharing what we have been thankful for this year. This year our missionaries to the Spain, the Browns, will be sharing with us during the service and joining us for the potluck as well. We look forward to spending time with them and hearing how God is working in their ministry.

Passover Seder

You may be asking yourself, “Why would a Baptist church be holding a Passover service?” The events surrounding Passover were fulfilled in the coming of Jesus the Messiah. Jesus Himself celebrated this holiday before he died on the cross.

And Jesus sent Peter and John saying, ‘Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.’ (Luke 22:8 NASB)

The parallels between the Passover and the life and death of our Lord Jesus Christ are too numerous to ignore. In order to learn more about this we have decided to hold a Passover Seder in order to experience together the full meaning of the death, burial, and resurection of Jesus.

What is a Seder?

Put simply the Passover Seder is a celebration of freedom. The word ‘Seder’ means order, and it is a combination of a service and a holiday meal. Passover is meant to be celebrated at home as a family holiday, but many times it is celebrated in groups as well.

What to Expect

One of the main features of a Passover Seder is a booklet called the Hagaddah. Everyone uses this booklet as the story of the Passover is told over the cousre of the evening. The longer part of the service commences before the meal. The Passover dinner is part of the celebration. After the meal the service continues and ends with a song and a blessing. The Seder lasts for at least two hours, but is a fully interactive event it is not uncommon for them to go for 3 or 4 hours or longer if everyone is enjoying themselves. The kids are welcome and in fact an important part of the service.

If you are interested in attending the our Passover Seder please let us know by contacting the church by Monday April 6th so that we can purchase the food. In order to cover the cost of the food we will be charging $8 per adult, $4 for kids age 5-12, children 4 and under are free. To RSVP you may send an e-mail to blbchurch@qwestoffice.net giving your name(s) and number of people attending for each age group by April 6th. You may send payment to the church ahead of time but we will be able to accept cash or checks at the door.

Popcorn Giveaway

Saturday March 14th we went door to door to give popcorn away to people in the community. The idea is to give something away with no strings attached.

There is no better way to get to know a community then to walk up and down its streets and talk to people. So we wanted to get to know some of the neighbors and bring a small token of friendship.

We wanted to make a good impression by giving a gift with no strings attached. Our culture has marketed us to death. We are skeptical when something is offered for free. We are waiting for the other shoe to drop. “What’s the catch?” we think. Well with a gift there is no catch. There is no need to convert to anything, do anything, commit to anything, or to think about anything except warm buttery popcorn… Mmmmmmm popcorn.

So if you live in Bonney Lake and you meet one of us at the door holding a bag of microwave popcorn you can take that bag guilt free. Whatever faith you hold, or even if you don’t. We are just your friendly neighborhood believers in Jesus Christ stopping by to be friendly and give you something to munch on.

Cleaning Day at the Church

We will be having a cleaning day at the church this Saturday January10th. We will be inviting people to visit the church and meet our new pastor on February 1st so we want to spruce up the place a bit. That, and we are going to have a great time doing it. We will begin in the morning at 9:00 am and ending at 2:00 pm. We will have a continental breakfast in the morning and sandwiches in the afternoon.

Due to inclement weather it may be necessary to cancel the service on December 21st, 2008. We will make that determination Saturday evening. If the severe weather forcast is correct we should know by this time if we will be able to have services. We will be contacting members and posting on update to the blog on Saturday.
